Brian Ebert
Hello, My name is Brian Ebert, I'm thirty-four years old from the Chicago area and I've been tying flies on and off for twenty years. I'm not sure what clicked and sent me on this crazed pursuit to tie the "Classics"? I think I was looking at Bob Veverkas web page, looking at his fly called "the Patriot" and was quite impressed. That got the gears turning, questioning if I could tie such flies. The final nail in the coffin was thumbing through Michael Radencich's book "Tying the Classic Salmon fly" I put the book down and knew what was next! I set out to find all the bizarre looking materials in that book, soon finding out it was not that simple. So now after the past year and a half of searching for materials, developing friendships with other tiers and countless hours in front of my vise I give this site my best efforts to date. Master tier? Hmm.... that's a big title to live up to, I still can't tie a good Deerhair bug or a solid Muddler Minnow but it's nice to get a little notice towards my Salmon flies. It's also nice to be in the good company of the tiers here at "The Classics" a couple of whom I already talk to. Tiers that I admire? There's too many to list but a few stands out to me, Charlie Chute, Mark Waslick and Tom Juracek to name a few (not to kiss any rump!). I try to leave out any pretension in fly-fishing and tying, it's just something we do. For myself it's a way to pass the time, get closer to nature, and feed the creative impulse and to clear my head. Thank you for looking into me and my flies. Thanks, Brian Ebert Editors Note: If you are interested in seeing more of Brian's work check out his selection of classic salmon flies at "SalmonFly.Net".
