Review from The Classics Web Master
The best review I could possible make of this great book could never do as well as the introduction on the inside front cover of the book. "Classic Salmon Flies" presents 165 specially selected and fully dressed classic salmon flies in words and pictures. It also shows both their original patterns and different variants, and will thus be of great value to every historically interested flyfisherman as well as to flytiers. This book is a source of inspiration flr all fishermen, especially those who are intrigued by the old flytying masters such as George M. Kelson, Francis Francis and Dr. Pryce-Tannatt, and how they fished with flies in famous waters. That being said I am sorry to say Mikael Frodn's masterpiece is currently out of print like so many other great works on the subject of the classic salmon fly. I was able to purchase mine on Ebay and I have seen a few being auctioned ont Ebay since then. Also, at times you will find used copies for sale at both Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com. If you can get hold of one, buy it, you won'y be dissapointed. The version I have was published in 1992 by Stoeger Publishing Company of Hackensack, New Jersey. Good hunting as it can be hard to find but it is well worth the effort. |
