Ed Wolfer
Hello my name is Ed Wolfer I live in Unionville, Ct. I live 5 min. from the Farmington river which has some of the best trout fishing in the state. I have been fishing since I was 15 yrs. old. I also lived in Mi. for 7 yrs. and thats where it all started. I was fishing one morning in Mi. when I saw an older man tying trout flies on the side of the river. When I saw what he was doing I knew I had to learn how to tye flies so I took some lessons from him and I have not been the same since. One day I was in a fly shop where I purchased materials from and I saw a copy of Judith Dunhams book "The Salmon Fly". When I opened it and saw all those feathers and flies I knew I had to learn how to tie salmon flies. I then asked my friend about the feathers in the book and he told me that they are very expensive and not to get into tying salmon flies. I looked at him and smiled, he just shook his head. I started tying Spey flies for fishing steelhead and Salmon and then went on to Salmon flies. As far as the search for materials goes I have made some good friends who call me when they have something I may want. There are plenty of materials out there for all of us who tie. I get to fish for Atlantic Salmon once a year in Canada, and there is nothing like hooking a 20lb. Salmon. I am very lucky to be able to do that. I would like to thank those who have helped me over the years, but especially Charlie Chutes, a.k.a. Mel Gibson, whose motto is that there should be no secrets in fly tying and I can not agree more. If I can help anyone in tying call me or email me and I will do my best to help. My flies are far from great but I sure love tying them. I also sell materials for salmon flies and if anyone needs anything please feel free to contact me at wolferiii@aol.com and I will do my best to help you out. I hope you enjoy looking at my flies as much as I have enjoyed tying them. Thanks Ed Wolfer
