In its day the Gordon was by far the most popular fly on the River Dee. It was designed by Mr. Cosmo Gordon around 1890. Kelson in his book "The Salmon Fly' describes two versions of the Gordon and both differ somewhat from Mr. Gordon's original version. The Gordon was also written about by Major John Henry Hale, John Hardy and Dr. Pryce-Tannatt.
